Very dull design of the wallet

In this Caramba wallet review blog, we take a look at the Caramba XRP Mobile App wallet. The Caramba wallet is a Ripple XRP wallet combined with an in-app marketplace news section and more. The wallet was created by a Dutch-registered company named Caramba Apps.

Design

When opening the wallet app we land on the home page where we can create a new wallet address or import an existing one. After creating a new wallet address, that specific address will display a message “deposit >10 XRP to activate”. Users can create more than one XRP address.

Down at the bottom of the wallet app, we find the menu all in a dark blueish style. The menu displays 5 taps: The Accounts/home tap, send and receive tap, XRP marketplace tap, XRP Price & news tap, and the settings tap. The first, as well as the second wallet tap, do not impress us much. With a very blockish styling, they do not welcome the user to really use the Caramba XRP wallet. However, because of the simplicity in its design, it quite well shows how to use it. But an improvement on this design could improve the whole wallet experience drastically.

XRP marketplace, Price charts & news

One the XRP Ripple marketplace within the app. Users can buy the XRP token. They can buy XRP with their Paypal account or by using Transak, a fiat to crypto service provider. The marketplace is not too complicated to understand. But just like the previous pages, the design ain’t great.

On the XRP price & news tap, you can find exactly that. Price and News. On the top of the tap, we find a price chart of XRP/USD which seems to work very well. So right under the chart, we find a variety of crypto-related news. The news seems to not just cover XRP but also many other cryptocurrencies. Clicking any of the articles will open it in-app, so users do not have to leave the comfort of the wallet.

Further on the settings page you will find the standard-setting page topics, like FAQ, Rate App, XRP wallet backup code, etc. It is not too special a thing but nice to have around.

Income model

Normally not a topic we like to cover in our crypto wallet reviews. But an important one to talk about in this one for sure. Although we do not completely know what forms of revenue the Caramba company makes from this wallet. It seems like a part of it comes from the marketplace and also from advertisements.

The advertisements part causes a bit of a problem. Because advertising in a wallet app can be very unpleasant. But we understand that it is necessary for some wallets as a source of income. Only with this wallet, the thing is that you are shown an ad almost every time you go to another tab/page in the wallet. This is very annoying and makes it absolutely not pleasant to use. This unpleasantness comes mostly from the fact that the ads do not just stay on the site. But take over the whole screen of your phone. We would highly suggest to the Caramba team to make a change to this!

Features

When It comes to extra features (besides sending and receiving crypto) Caramba wallet offers the following.

  • Wallet lock on the top right of the App
  • In-App trading feature
  • News & price charts

Improvements

Like every other Wallet out there, the Caramba wallet has flaws and missing things. The flaws that we point out are of course based on our personal opinion and we would like to point out that they don’t always have to be a hindrance to anyone.

The Caramba apps wallet does not function as a very user-friendly wallet. For some XRP fans, this wallet could be used as storage and even a trading place. But it does lack a good UI & UX. This mostly comes down to the fact that the app displays so many large ads. Because of that, it would be great to see the wallet remove these types of frequent ads and create a new fresh design. On top of that, we would like to propose the integration of an exchange that trades XRP. This so that users have more options to buy the token. But also could have a more user’s friendly way to do so. Especially if the user has used a CEX before.

Conclusion

So the Caramba mobile wallet functions but does not look very attractive. Because of the ads and other reasons mentioned before. The wallet does function properly though and has potential for a future if it upgrades. We however will not use the wallet till these upgrades occur. In case you do, please let us know your experience by leaving a review on the Caramba wallet page.

Downloading and installing the Caramba wallet on mobile devices is done very easily and only takes a few seconds. We are very curious to see where this wallet will go into the future and if it will develop into a very different wallet experience in the future. But for now, we give this wallet a low score of 1.9 out of 5 stars as it is not the best XRP wallet.

But we do wish the best to the wallet team and users alike and hope this review can be useful for their future developments.

We hope you enjoyed our Caramba Wallet review. In case you do not agree with our Caramba wallet review? You can buy some Ripple, download the Caramba Ripple wallet app, send it to your wallet, and write your own Caramba wallet review today! And also check out what other people think about the Caramba wallet.

Extra note: So as always check the date of this review to see if it is relevant. Wallets can add new functions and change designs to improve their product so a bad review now won’t mean they can’t be great in the future.
